Upcoming Musical Events In Mount Vernon Include Jazz, Gospel

MOUNT VERNON, N.Y. -- The City of Mount Vernon will be hosting several upcoming musical events including the final performances in the Summer Breeze Concert Series.

On Tuesday, at 6:30, "From the Boys & Girls Club To The NBA" author Lowes Moore, will be available for a book signing. Kenny Lee, a jazz musician, will follow from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the City Hall Plaza.

FDR Drive will be performing on Friday at Grand Street Playground (Fleetwood Avenue Playground) on Grand Street between Fleetwood and Gramatan Avenues, from 7 p.m. until 9 p.m. The concert will be canceled if the forecast is for inclement weather.

On Aug. 25, from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m., Gospel Night will include Mo'Jazz Network, Bishop Sam, Minister Mark Q. Murray & Friends, Shekinah Faith Ministries Dancers, John Wilson and the Mount Vernon Interfaith Choir.

The Summer Breeze Concert Series finale will conclude on Sept. 1 with New York State of Mind, also known as D'Wayne Garner with D'Final Decision Band. Special guest will be Miss Irene Renee'. R&B night will take place from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at City Hall Plaza.

The Arts On Third Street Festival will begin on Sunday, Sept. 6 from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m. on 3rd Sreet and 3rd Avenue and admission is free. There will be live entertainment, music, food, vendors and more. Live performances include Al B. Sure, Doug E. Fresh, Tito Puente Jr., GQ and more.
